MLB Sweep Tracker Update: 5/20/12

Welcome back for another update of the MLB Sweep Tracker!

Over the past two weeks, there were 18 sweeps in the MLB (series ending on or before May 20th).

These past two weeks brought the first significant time of two-game series and it brought the first set of inter-league games. Two-game series generally increase the number of sweeps and this period was no exception – there were 11 two-game sweeps.

Three teams were involved in three sweeps over the past two weeks – Mariners, Phillies and Cardinals. The Dodgers continued their roll notching two more sweeps, bringing them to a league leading five sweeps (and they have never been swept).

After almost two months, only six teams have never been swept (Rays, White Sox, Indians, Athletics, Reds and Dodgers). Nine teams have never swept any other team (Athletics, Nationals, Cubs, Reds, Brewers, Pirates, Rockies, Padres and Giants).

There have been 47 total sweeps in the MLB as of 5/20/12.

Be sure to check back in two weeks for the next update to the MLB Sweep Tracker (series ending on or before 6/3/12)!
